One Vision + Two Houses + Three Years in the Making = A "Happy Place" For Quilters

The KP Quilt Retreat Center is located in the historic district of Forsyth, MT.  Forsyth sits on the Yellowstone River, and is known as the "City of Trees".  The larger home was  built in 1917 as a boarding house. It is on the National Historical Home Registrar.  In 1966, it was purchased by my family and was my childhood home. The smaller house was a rental property owned by my parents for many years.   In 2016, my husband and I purchased the two houses from my family estate and we are on this journey of restoring, remodeling, and starting up a business.  I am a avid quilter, and enjoy going to retreats.  When designing and supplying both houses, I have tried to remember what quilters need and what would make their stay more enjoyable.  After all, our goal is to provide a clean, comfortable space for quilters at an affordable price.  A fellow quilter told my husband "We are quilters, all we need is a flat surface and a plug in." We have tried to provide more than that.

The Sewing House

The smaller of the two houses is were all of the creativity takes place.  The great room has twelve, 4 foot tables set up with a matching rolling chair. There are four design walls to display quilts in progress. The lighting has been upgraded to LED lighting through out the room.  A smaller room has two irons/boards and two cutting tables. The kitchen is set up as a snack area with a table, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot,  and  a hot/cold water cooler. Paper plates, and utensils for your snacks, and coffee are included in the price.   There is a bedroom with a queen and twin bed, for the early riser/night owl, or for someone that has difficulty taking stairs.

The "Sleeping" House

This 1917 historic home has more to offer than just a place to sleep.  The first floor is completely remodeled with modern updates.  It has a comfortable living room, to relax, and a dining room with seating for twelve.  There is a full kitchen that will always be stocked with basic staples if you choose to do your own cooking.  The bedroom on the main floor has its own  bathroom and an entrance  to the outside.  There is also a guest bathroom entering from the hallway. The second floor has been restored close to the original 1917 era.  Along with a seating area, it has four spacious bedrooms, with two beds in each room.  The bathroom upstairs has a 5 foot walk-in shower.  The total count for beds in both houses is twelve, which includes a variety  of sizes; no bunk beds.
